There’s something special about a clean early-2000s Audi TT. It’s compact, fun, and timeless… but let’s be honest: the factory audio (and factory tech) didn’t exactly age as well as the styling did.
This week, we completed an on-site mobile installation at a client’s home in Poway on a 2002 Audi TT, bringing the car’s sound and daily usability way up to modern standards.
The goal
The client wanted:
More low-end without sacrificing cargo space
Clearer, stronger sound up front (where it matters most)
Better rear fill for balance
A safer, more convenient way to reverse and park
Apple CarPlay for modern phone integration
And he wanted it done at home, without dropping the car off at a shop.
What we installed
Here’s the equipment list for this Audi TT upgrade:
Kicker PTRTP10 powered subwoofer (compact bass upgrade with built-in amp)
Kicker KSS6504 front door speakers
Kicker KSC6504 rear speakers
Backup camera
Client-provided touchscreen radio with Apple CarPlay
Why this setup works (especially in a TT)
A small cabin like the TT doesn’t need a giant sub box to sound great — it needs clean power, efficient use of space, and the right tuning mindset.
The Kicker PTRTP10 is a perfect match for a sporty coupe: tight bass, small footprint, and it adds the “foundation” the rest of the system needs.
The KSS6504 front speakers bring the detail and clarity back — vocals, guitars, snare hits… all the stuff that makes music feel alive.
The KSC6504 rears round things out so the car doesn’t sound front-heavy (without being overpowering).
And adding CarPlay + a backup camera is one of the biggest quality-of-life upgrades you can do on an older vehicle. Navigation, calls, messages, music — it’s all right there, and reversing is way less stressful.
Installed on-site in Poway (no shop visit needed)
We completed everything at the client’s home in Poway, which means:
