2000 Lexus ES300 Radio and Backup Camera Install in Pacific Beach
This 2000 Lexus ES300 in Pacific Beach had us come out and bring its factory setup into the modern era with a new radio and a backup camera. The owner wanted everyday upgrades — a touchscreen head unit and a camera to make parking and reversing safer — without losing the clean, factory look of the cabin.
The factory amp had to go
This ES300 came equipped with the premium sound system, which meant the factory amplifier had to be bypassed to get the best possible sound out of a new head unit. It's one of those steps that's easy to skip, but doing it right is the difference between "works" and "sounds like it should." We bypassed it cleanly so the new radio runs direct and plays the way it was designed to.
A touchscreen head unit
With the new touchscreen radio in place, this ES300 picked up modern convenience: Bluetooth streaming, hands-free calling, and a bright display that makes navigating the UI and music titles easy to read at a glance. No more squinting at a dated factory screen.
A clean backup camera
The client also chose a basic foot-mount camera, which fit great just above the license plate. It gives a clear view behind the car when reversing, and the low-profile mount keeps it looking factory.
