Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 23, 2026
Twelve Volt Technologies ("we", "us", "our") operates 12volt.tech and provides mobile automotive electronics installation services in San Diego County. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we handle it.
What we collect
When you request a quote or contact us, you give us the information you type into our form or message us directly:
Your name
Your email address
Your phone number
Your zipcode / service area
Your vehicle's year, make, and model
The services you're interested in and any notes you share
When you post a comment or "like" a post on our blog (where that feature is available), we collect:
Your name (displayed as part of your posted comment)
Your email address (optional, so you're notified if someone replies)
Your website URL (optional)
For "likes": browser/network/device information, details about the post you liked, and your IP address (used to prevent the same person liking the same post twice in one visit)
When you buy something on our online shop (shop.12volt.tech), we collect the information needed to fulfill your order:
Your name and contact details
Your billing and shipping address
Details relating to your purchase
Payment is handled securely by our checkout provider; we don't store your card number
As you go through checkout, the site may auto-complete your shipping/billing address using the Google Places API, which returns suggestions to speed up your checkout.
When you schedule an appointment or book with us, we collect what's needed to complete the booking:
Your name, email, and phone number
Details relating to your appointment (for example, who referred you)
Any files you upload
Automatically, when you visit our sites, we use privacy-friendly analytics tools that record things like:
Information about your browser, network, and device
Your IP address
Web pages you visited before coming to our site and while you're here
Details about your use of the site: pages viewed, internal links and outbound links clicked, scrolling, searches, and timestamps
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers.
How we use your information
To prepare and send you a written estimate for the work you asked about.
To communicate with you about your estimate and scheduling by text or email.
To fulfill and support orders from our online shop.
To improve our website, our service, and how we respond to requests.
To recognize repeat visitors so we can serve them better (for example, when someone who requested a quote opens the estimate link we send them).
When you submit a quote request or open the estimate link we send you, that activity is linked to your request so we can review and follow up accurately. This is how we make sure no request gets lost and every lead gets a written estimate.
Analytics
We use two analytics tools:
Our own self-hosted analytics. This is cookie-less, meaning it does not rely on tracking cookies. When you submit a quote request or open an estimate link we send you, that session is linked to the name/email you provided so we can review it. Session replays let us see how a visitor moved through the site — this helps us improve it. Typed form values (like email and phone number) are masked in those replays for your privacy.
Google Analytics (GA4). This helps us understand site traffic and measure the effectiveness of our advertising. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's privacy policy. You can opt out using Google's analytics opt-out browser extension.
Cookies
This website uses cookies and similar technologies — small files or pieces of text that download to a device when you visit. You can view the cookies used and how to manage them in your browser settings.
Functional and required cookies are always used so our hosting platform can securely serve this website to you.
Analytics and performance cookies (for example, Google Analytics) are used only after you acknowledge our cookie banner. Analytics cookies help us view site traffic and activity.
Where your information is processed
We use trusted services to run the business, and your information may pass through them. Each is bound by its own privacy and security commitments:
Squarespace — our website and online store hosting platform. Squarespace collects personal data when you visit (browser/network/device info, pages you view, your IP address) to run the site and to protect and improve its platform; it analyzes this data in a de-personalized form. Forms submitted on the site are shared with Squarespace so it can provide website services.
Softr, Fillout, and Airtable — the quote form, other forms, and our customer database. Form submissions are shared with them so we can store and track your request.
Google — analytics (GA4), advertising, and storage. When you submit a form, the information may be shared with Google for storage; Google's services are governed by Google's privacy policy.
Shopify — our online store (shop.12volt.tech).
Zapier — where we use it, automated data transfer between the tools above so a request flows smoothly through our system.
Adobe Fonts / Google Fonts — to display this site properly, these font services may receive browser/network/device information and your IP address.
We do not send your information to anyone for marketing, and we never sell it.
SMS / Text messaging
If you choose SMS/text as your communication preference, we may text you about your quote and scheduling. We do not send marketing texts. Message and data rates may apply. You can ask us to stop texting at any time by replying to any message or contacting us.
How long we keep your information
We keep quote requests, orders, and related messages as long as needed to provide the service, follow up, and meet legal and accounting obligations. Analytics data is kept in aggregated form and is not sold.
Your choices and rights
Opt out of analytics. Cookie-less analytics don't require a consent banner; you can block the analytics script with standard browser privacy tools or extensions if you prefer.
Review or delete. To see what we hold about you or ask us to delete it, email or text us and we'll help. Because your information is linked to a real quote request or order we need to service, we'll work with you on a practical basis.
Cookie management. Use your browser's settings to block or clear cookies (Google Analytics uses them).
California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, and to request deletion. We do not sell your personal information. To make a request, use the contact information below. We won't discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Children
Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Changes that meaningfully affect how we use your data will be communicated on this page.
