2012 Honda Civic adds a backup camera
This 2012 Honda Civic contacted us looking to add a backup camera to the factory IMID display in the dash!
There is a moderate amount of dash disassembly required to access the display in the dash. Once we have the dash apart, making the few necessary connections is a relatively simple procedure!
Once we made the connections to the display, we were able to confirm that the interface and camera were functional. This means that we were able to begin routing the wiring for our camera and finalize the mounting!
This Civic was in Pacific Beach, and the neat part is the backup camera integrates into the factory IMID display in the dash — no new screen needed. We wired it to show the rear view right in the existing display, so it looks like it came from the factory. If you're in Pacific Beach or around the beach areas and want a factory-clean backup camera, this is a great route.
