2018 Chevy Silverado upgrades his Bose sound system with Kenwood Excelon!

This 2018 Chevy Silverado reached out to us with a goal of increasing the sound quality and overall volume. His Silverado was equipped with a factory Bose sound system which adds a few degrees of complication to the overall installation. We decided to go with a Kenwood Excelon package to ensure the best performance and the most longevity from the system!

This installation started with pulling off the door panels and removing the factory Bose speakers. The front door speakers are a 6x9 and we decided to replace them with the Kenwood Excelon KFC-X694! These speaker paired with a Metra 82-3004 make for a factory like fitment!

Here are some side-by-side comparison photos we took of the front speakers!

Serving Lakeside Silverado owners

This 2018 Silverado was upgraded here in Lakeside, and it's a great example of what a Bose-equipped GM truck needs. The factory Bose amp is the weak link on these — replacing it with the Kenwood Excelon XR901-5 frees up real power and drops the noise floor, so the new speakers in the doors actually get the signal they deserve. If you're in Lakeside or East County with a Bose Silverado that gets muddy when you turn it up, this is the fix.

Next, we moved onto the rear door speakers and pulled these out to replace them with some Kenwood Excelon KFC-X174's! These pair with a Metra 82-3006 for a perfect fit!

We finished this installation with a Kenwood Excelon XR901-5 in place of the Bose amplifier. This gets us substantially more power and a much lower noise floor to really maximize all of the new speakers in this truck!
