Factory speakers in most cars are built to a cost, and the 2013 Ford Fusion is no exception; a few years of use left these stock speakers barely even passable. The stock set gets you by, but it just doesn't deliver what you really want from your sound. We installed Alpine S2-S65 component speakers in the front doors, and the S2-S65 Coaxials in the rear. These are a great option when you want to upgrade the sound significantly without adding a dedicated amp to the install. They run clean off the factory or aftermarket unit and still give you a noticeable lift in clarity, detail, and that separation you are not getting from the stock speakers.
We used proper speaker brackets and acoustic sealing rings so the speakers are solidly mounted and sealed against the door, which keeps the midbass tight instead of letting panel vibration muddy it. It is the kind of prep work that makes the upgrade feel like it was meant to be there.
On top of that, we added one of Kicker’s compact downfire powered subwoofers (and a remote bass knob) to fill out the bump that even the best speakers can't deliver.
